Funeral of Petty
Grace and I went with a group of nurses to a lovely funeral for Petty and her husband, Corr. It was a pleasant occasion, very relaxing and positive. He expressed his pleasure that Grace and I had come. How nice of him! I didn’t really know what to say to him. We are all on our own journey with this disease, and I can’t begin to imagine how he is feeling or what is next steps are.
Oh yeah I did not where dark colours 🙈. But I hope I looked tidy and respectful.
Another Nurse Request to Remove a Video from Instagram 🙁
One of the other nurses spotted a video featuring us on Instagram today – I missed it completely, having done it ages ago – it was completely accidential. I have removed it as requested, because I absolutely respect the request. It’s just a shame because it showcased excellent care looks. However, most nurses are really okay with it. Am I disappointed? A little!
The Courage to be Disliked
There is a Japanese philosophy book I’ve read titled “The Courage to Be Disliked.” I keep this in mind when my actions make a few people uncomfortable. My intentions are positive and good, and I do double-check that from time to time.
Despite what the title might suggest it has a very positive tone. The books draws upon the theories of Alfred Adler, a notable psychologist on par with Freud and Jung. The book centers around a thought-provoking conversation between a philosopher and a young man, revealing a transformative way of thinking. It emphasises the importance of developing the courage to challenge and disregard the limitations frequently imposed upon us, ultimately leading to the discovery of true happiness.
Evening Out with British Expats in Rotterdam
I attended a social evening with British expats this evening. All the people I met were wonderful and engaging. However, I still struggle with social situations and feel disconnected from others. Sorry!
