Grace is looking awesome!

I saw Grace this morning before taking my flight to Split. Yep, I couldn’t resist visiting her before heading to Croatia. Grace seemed a little bit sad, but then I said, “I love you,” and a big smile suddenly appeared on her face. It’s so powerful; it clearly makes her feel good and also fills me with an amazing sense of joy. It sets me up to feel super positive for the rest of the day.

Going to the care home always fills me with positivity. I have no expectations of Grace and her fellow residents, yet they all give in their own way. Like all of us, they have their bad days from time to time, but they remain authentic and engage with such positivity.

W has done a fantastic job with Grace’s hair and outfit today. As I discuss with the nurses, I don’t want Grace to look like a pensioner. Early-onset dementia may make those affected by the disease appear older, but Grace has always been young at heart. And that’s how it’s going to stay!

I had a funny moment at the pharmacy. My Dutch language skills are improving day by day. Today, I was complaining about a customer who jumped the queue and then took forever to get their purse out of their handbag. Am I really upset? No! In one respect, I feel silly for making a fuss, but in another respect I feel great that I can express my irritation in Dutch.

Off to the Airport

The journey to the airport takes me about 40 minutes via public transport, and I breeze through the security queue in just 4 minutes. Yep, 4 minutes, and that was only because some attention needed to be given to a gentleman who had a metal plate in his body.
