Acts of Kindness
As I write this blog, we have just experienced the most kind-hearted gesture. Whilst at Starbucks, some ladies along with their children, have generously given us a cake from their box of cakes. I believe they are of Turkish background. I am truly delighted. Grace and I encounter people from diverse backgrounds—different ages, ethnicities, and more. I cannot share a photo of their faces out of respect for their privacy, but they graciously allowed me to take a photo of their backs. I feel incredibly humble.
I witnessed another act of kindness earlier this evening. Some teenage boys, racing around in their car, immediately stopped at a distance to allow me to safely push Grace across the road.
Super Productive
Yesterday and today have been exceptionally productive days. I feel like I am making a positive impact at work despite not feeling well. Grace and I both have colds, likely due to too much kissing, which has led to the spread of germs.
What happened to one guy at Laurens? Is there racism at Laurens?
I wonder how a male guy is doing. I heard that his contract at Laurens was not extended. Being a person with dark skin, I wonder why his contract was not renewed. I’ve heard that some nurses feel there is racist behavior by management and other staff at Antonius. They say that their complaints are ignored, and those with ‘white skin’ receive preferential treatment when it comes to schedules, and their complaints are promptly addressed. As a person with dark skin, I wonder why K’s contract was not extended. I have heard one white-skinned female nurse, on multiple occasions, making derogatory comments about nearly every dark-skinned nurse. Some of them felt very intimidated by the behavior of 3-4 white-skinned nurses.
Still a salty taste in my mouth
I have had this salty taste in my mouth for six weeks now. There is alarming information online suggesting it could be due to periodontal disease or a brain tumor. Alternatively, it could be related to long COVID, dehydration, medication side effects, and so on. My head still feels swollen at the top.
Love being with Grace
Last night was amazing with Grace; we spent three hours together. She listened to music while I made progress on my second book. I chatted with her regularly and gave her lots of hugs and kisses. Despite her condition, she is still beautiful inside and out.
We’re going out this weekend
This weekend, I am taking Grace out to meet with a group from an online community. They have kindly invited Grace to join them.
