Back in the Netherlands
I’m back in the Netherlands; I returned on Friday. It took a quiet Saturday to recover. I can’t handle these long weeks in terms of hours and travel anymore. I keep telling myself that I’ll stop in 2–3 years. I think I need another two years at DWP (Department of Work and Pensions).
I’ve spent the last few days traveling across eastern England watching UBDS roll out the first few DWP sites with a new wireless network. It hasn’t gone well. The migrations are taking around 12 hours, and some sites needed to be rolled back. I’m so glad I’m not on the UBDS side; I suspected this might happen. Moving to a wireless-only solution while changing vendors at the same time seemed like a recipe for disaster.
Anyway, I enjoyed some classic pub food while traveling. I also confirmed that I don’t miss the UK. I see no reason to go back and live there in the foreseeable future.
The Personal Trainer Is a Pain
I’m so irritated with Henny. I gave him dates to plan ahead, and he did nothing. I had to chase him on Saturday morning. He feels bad, but it’s not good enough; this is the second time this has happened.
