Exams Passed
I did it. I passed all my NT2 Dutch Language exams. If I can do it, then anyone can. I was the person in the lowest set for French and German, at school, who hated learning languages.
I did lessons for A2. Then gave up with the B1 lessons myself (as it was like watching paint dry) and taught myself, speaking with Dutch people, watching TV and reading the paper. Started A2 last July. I just kept ploughing away every day.
The most important thing is that I thought I don’t care what s@@t people think I am talking. Eventually the tipping point came when the responses came back in Dutch, and not English. It was a bit like being in the deep end of the pool for the first time. People would starting talking back really fast and I’d think ‘I’ve got no clue what they are saying’, I’d smile and nod and most times that did the trick. Then eventually I started to keep up.
I’ve got a spare dictionary and two text books, which I have given away. Bugger making a few euros on marktplaats, I am happy to give them away from free.
Stayed in Town for a Drink
Me and Grace have stayed in Rotterdam for a drink. As the photo shows she is as sweet as ever. I love her to bits.
