Sleeping with Grace
I ended up sleeping with Grace last night, which I hope she enjoyed. I didn’t sleep very well, but I’m glad I was with her, lying by her side. I surprised the nurse on night duty when she came in to check on Grace, but she was super kind.
Meeting with Laurens and the Lawyers
Today, I had a meeting with Hans Stravers, a director at Laurens, and Laurens’s lawyers. I proposed the meeting after further exchanges of emails, and I feel I’ve made my point. Hans looked completely annoyed. However, to be fair to the lawyers, they came across as positive and engaging. Despite the tense tone of the messages going back and forth, I understand they are just doing their job, and they are showing me respect.
I am clear that the despicable behavior of two individuals has led to this situation, and Laurens has supported them. No one is forthcoming with solutions, so I proposed one.
The lawyers were taking notes, which I pointed out made me uncomfortable. Suddenly, they stopped, and it was quite funny.
I suggested that Laurens provide its staff with training on how to support families of those with early-stage dementia. The lead lawyer responded very positively to this proposal, and even Hans seemed fine with it. So this is how we will move forward. Hans also proposed that we meet for lunch.
Hans reminded me to focus on Grace—perhaps inferring that my relationship with Laurens is a distraction. What he doesn’t realize is that sending an email to 1,500 people at Laurens doesn’t take much energy, yet it seems to have made an impact.
Botox and Profhilo
I visited Faceland again to see the lovely Joanne, who gave me two more sets of injections—one of Botox and the other of Profhilo. The latter is a cosmetic treatment that involves injecting hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and improve its elasticity. Profhilo is a type of bioremodeling treatment that helps rejuvenate the skin by increasing hydration and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Unlike traditional fillers, which add volume, Profhilo spreads evenly under the skin, providing deep moisture and improving skin texture.
I am still tired; I just slept for another hour on Grace’s bed during the day. I shouldn’t be surprised.
