7th January: Recovering from the last few days
I slept until midday and visited Grace in the afternoon. She was in her bed in her room, and I was told she had been doing her exercises and had eaten well at lunch, but she was really tired. I asked if she could be moved in her bed to the living room, so she could have some social company. I helped her with dinner and then left her to go to a friend’s house for dinner.
8th January: 10th January Focus on Grace
I spent the last three nights buried in my laptop, writing chapters for the book. I sought the help of Angela, who is based in Kenya. I found her through the freelance site Fiverr.com. As an undergraduate studying Business Management, I liked the fact that we were completely different (age, sex, background) but both bring our own and experience.
Grace was doing just fine, although she was in bed by 19:00 each night, as she was so tired. The nurses said she was doing her exercises and standing on her feet in the morning.
On Sunday, I brought in Christmas cake (a mixed fruit cake with ice covering and marzipan) for all the residents (thanks, Andy and Tricia), which we ate with tea and coffee in the evening. Everyone finished off every piece on the plate.
I had been suffering from real anger in the last few days, and I know it is anger hangover from everything that had happened with Grace last week. But it is starting to dissipate due to focusing on the book again.
